Tim Veldman

Tim Veldman is a highly experienced violinist, violist, and conductor with a career spanning both Australia and Europe. He trained in Austria, completing a double degree in Performance and Pedagogy at the Carinthian Conservatory, before returning to perform extensively with orchestras such as the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. From 2003 to 2008, Tim held a full-time First Violin position with the North Netherlands Orchestra, appearing regularly in major Dutch venues including the Royal Concertgebouw and on tour throughout Europe.

Now based in Melbourne, Tim maintains an active performance profile in both orchestral and chamber music contexts. In 2025, he takes up the role of Conductor for the Eltham Orchestras, bringing his passion for dynamic programming and collaborative music-making to this vibrant community ensemble. He also leads string programs at Tintern Grammar, where he is Head of Strings, and at Eltham High School, coordinating and conducting a range of ensembles. Drawing on a wealth of professional experience, Tim is committed to creating performance environments that are inclusive, engaging, and artistically rewarding for musicians at all levels.
